Sept. 16, 1953 Funeral services for Wheeler Scheiern, 58, who died Sunday morning at Butterworth hospital, Grand Rapids were held Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 2:00 p.m. from the Myers Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl Carpenter officiated and interment was at Saranac cemetery. He was a combat veteran of World War I. The American Legion Post 175 of Saranac formed an honor guard. Commander George Arnold, Max Densmore, Harold Clark, Glenn Adgate, Stanley Eddy, Wayne Sherwood, and John Adgate formed the honor guard. Those attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Julis Scheiern, and Mrs. Orpha Conley, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Normand, Mrs. Milton Lower, Sr., of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Burr Lane of Pontiac; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Koob of Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Darling and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fuller of Lake Odessa; Mr. and Mrs. Berce Perrel, and Mr. and Mrs. Royce Demeray and Royce Jr. of Fennville; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Neilson of Allegan, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lockhart of Grand Rapids and Mrs. George Coppess of Woodland.
