Martha W. Schelstraete, 83, died Tuesday at a local nursing home after a lengthy
illness.  Mrs. Schelstraete was born July 22, 1899, in South Dakota and was a
resident of Smyrna since 1948.  She had also lived in Detroit.  Her husband,
Rene, died Feb. 21, 1977.

Surviving are his sister, Mrs. Inec Rowe, Battle Lake, Minn.; seven brothers,
Lewis Odland, Wadem, Minn., Edwin Odland, Rochester, Minn., Benjamin Odland,
Belding, Martin Odland, State College, Pa., Clifford Odland, Minot, N.D., Cyrus
Odland, Cecil Odland, both of Menahga, Minn.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Charles M. Courser Funeral Home,
Belding, the Rev. Darwyn Hassert of Smyrna Bible Church officiating.  Interment
will be in Otisco Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at
the funeral home.
