Greenville Daily News, 22 Feb 1977

Rene Schelstreaete, 79, 9263 Ingalls Rd., Belding, died Monday at Kent Community
Hospital, Grand Rapids after a two-month illness.  Mr. Schelstreaete was born
Nov. 18, 1897 in Belgium and had also lived in Detroit.  He was a retired
employee of Gibson Products Corp.  He served in the Belgium army in World War I
and in the U.S. Army in World War II.  He was a member of Hugo Fales Post No.
203 American Legion, Belding, and VFW Post 4406, Belding.

Surviving are his wife, Martha, and several cousins.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Charles M. Courser Funeral Home,
Belding, the Rev. Darwyn Hassert officiating.  Interment will be in Otisco
Cemetery.  Visitation at the funeral home will be tonight from 7 to 8:30 and
Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30.
