He suffered a heart attack while cutting an apple tree down in his yard. Sheriff Pete VanVleck and Coroner Dale Kauffman were called to the home. The son of Harry and Rose Schelter, he was born July 17, 1900 in Woodbury and was a farmer most of his life. He lived for a number of years in the vicinity of Lake Odess and and at his present home for the past four years. A resident of Ionia county for twenty two yeas, he was married to Ethel Vlerk in 1933 by the Rev. Duffy in Ionia. He was a member of the Farmer's Union and the Farm bureau. Surviving are his wife, Ethel; on son, LeRoy at home; a sister, Mrs. Tillie Shellenberger of Lansing; two brothers, Orma J. Schelter of Lansing, and Earl Schelter of Lake Odessa.
