The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, September 28, 1938
Funeral services were conducted from the Stone funeral home, 131 East 
Washington street, Tuesday afternoon, September 27, at 2 o’clock for Louis D. 
Scheurer, 59, who died at the Ionia city hospital Saturday morning, September 
24, at 11:30 o’clock.  The Rev. George Woolcock, pastor of the Ionia Baptist 
church, officiated at the services.  Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.


Pallbearers were William Roh of Hastings, Charles G. McCarry of Ionia, Carl 
Burkle, Alvin Burkle, Henry DeVowe and Andrew Stockholm of Grand Rapids.  Two 
selections, “In the Garden,” and “The Old Rugged Cross,” were sung by Mrs. 
Marcella M. Clark, accompanied by Mrs. Dale W. Kauffman.

Among those attending the services from away were Mr. and Mrs. William Roh of 
Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Stockholm, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Landstra, Mrs. 
Kate Burkle, Henry DeVowe, Miss Freda Held, Carl Burkle and Alvin Burkle of 
Grand Rapids.
