Scheurer, 77, of Lyons died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1995 at his home. He was born Oct. 22, 1918 at home, where he spent his entire life, the son of Albert and Maude (Hopkins) Scheurer. He married Jeanette Esterline on July 15, 1950 at LeValley United Methodist Church parsonage. He has been a farmer and was a truck driver at Ionia County Road Commission for nearly 30 years before retiring. He was a member of LeValley United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II and a member of Ionia V.F.W. Post #3732. He is survived by his wife Jeanette; sons Jim, Ed, Phil and Dave, all of Lyons; daughters Georgia (Tom) Mitchell and Jane (Mike) Blood, both of Ionia; eight grandchildren: Michael and Julie Mitchell, Libby and Marci Scheurer, Grant, Justin and Zack Blood and Preston Scheurer; brothers Harold (Bertha) Scheurer, of Ionia, Shirley (Maxine) Scheurer, of Lyons, Robert (Joyce) Scheurer of Portland and Allen (Barneda) Scheurer, of Ionia; and sister Jean (Leonard) Hausserman, of Ionia. He was preceded in death by his daughter Caroline Jean in 1960. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the LeValley United Methodist Church with Rev. David Flagel officiating. Interment will be in Keefer Cemetery, and visitation will be at the Rich St. Chapel of Cook Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the LeValley Church or the donor’s choice.
