Berneda Scheurer, 87, of Ionia, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 
2014.  She was born on Jan. 14, 1927, in Middleton, Michigan, the daughter of 
Ivan Nelson and Ethel (Rowley) Roberts.  

Berneda was a strong and self-less woman, and she enjoyed farming with her 
husband Allen, having many roles on the farm.  She enjoyed family outings, 
traveling - especially to Colorado, baking, canning, and gardening.   Berneda 
never missed the Ionia Free Fair, where she watched her children and 
grandchildren show livestock. 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Allen; daughter, Donna; granddaughter, 
Kianna; and several brothers and sisters.  

Surviving are her daughters, Mary E. Scheurer, Sue A. Scheurer, and Deborah 
(Ron) Thelen; sons, Michael Scheurer, and Craig (Megan Garlick) Scheurer; 11 
grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Kay (Patrick) O'Brien; many 
nieces and nephews.  

The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2014, at Lehman 
Funeral Homes, 220 Rich St., Ionia.   Interment will follow at Balcom Cemetery, 
Ionia.   The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the 
funeral home.  

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes 
Association, or the American Kidney Foundation, in memory of Berneda.
