Ionia Sentinel Standard - September 24, 1984

                              RITA L. SCHEURER

IONIA-Rita L. Scheurer, 49, of Haynor Road, rural Ionia, died Monday in Sparrow 
Hospital, Lansing.

Born in Portland May 27, 1935, she was the daughter of Julius and Julia 
Feldpausch Smith.

She attended St.Patrick's School in Portland, graduating with the high school 
Class of 1953. She was employed for a short time at Fisher Body in Lansing.

She was married April 7, 1956, to Ford Scheurer in St.Patrick's Church, 
Portland. They made their home in Orange Township until 1968 when they moved to 
Ionia.

She was a member of SS.Peter & Paul Church and St.Catherine's Rosary Society.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Frederick of Saranac and Douglas at home; 
two daughters, Mrs.Michael (Cheryl) Van Warmer, of Belding and Sandra Schneider 
of Ionia; and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are seven brothers, William Smith of Westphalia, John Smith of 
Grand Lede, and Richard, George, Joseph, Charles and Leo Smith all of Portland; 
six sisters, Mrs.Donald (Viola) Dutcher, Mrs. Richard (Rose Marie)Simon and 
Mr.Dan (Julie) Leonard, all of Portland; Mrs.Robert (Helen) Simon of Pewamo, 
Jean Van Ostran of Lansing and Mrs.Albin (Ruth) Hengesbach of Westphalia.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ss.Peter & Paul Church, with the 
Rev.Thomas Bolster officiating.

Parish rosary will be Wednesday at 8 p.m.at Leddick Funeral Home.

The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Memorial has been established  for SS. Peter & Paul Church, in care of the 
Funeral Home.
