He was born in Orange township in October 1894, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Scheurer Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Orange township and attended the Riker school and the Portland school. He was a director of the Portland school for many years and a member of the Farm Bureau. He was a member of the LeValley church and sang in the choir for several years. Mr. Scheurer was married in 1919 to Mabel York at the LeValley parsonage. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Leolyn Slade of Vermontville and Mrs. Rogen Zinske of Lansing; one son, Ford Scheurer of Orange township; one brother, Bert of Orange; four sisters, Mrs. Earl Lesher of Lake City, Mrs. Nell White of Detroit, Sarah Scheurer of Orange and Freda Scheurer of Berlin township. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the LeValley Methodist church with the Rev. Earl Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Balcom cemetery. Mr. Scheurer will be at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home until noon Saturday.
