He had been in poor health several years. Mr. Scheurer, a pioneer of Orange township, was born March 2, 1856 at Ann Arbor, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Scheurer. At the age of two he came to Ionia with his parents and resided on North Jackson street in Ionia, until 25 years ago. A year later he bought and built his present farm home where he has lived since. He was married to Miss Pheobe Adgate of Ionia township on New Year’s day, 1883 at the Adgate home. Surviving beside the widow are four daughters, Mrs. Pauline Lesher of Lake City, Mrs. Nellie White of Detroit, Mrs. Paul Hausserman of Berlin township and Miss Sarah Scheurer who resided with her parents; two sons, Bert Scheurer of Orange township and Fred Scheurer Jr., of Orange township; a brother, John Scheurer of Ionia and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Scheurer Phillips of Detroit and Mrs. Bertha Jenson of Roy, Montana. Thirteen grandchildren and three great- grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held from the home Wednesday afternoon, November 2, at 2:30 o’clock with the Rev. Kenneth Griswold, pastor of the LeValley church, officiating. Interment will be made in Balcom cemetery.
