Donna Jean Scheurer, age 56, of Broomfield, Colorado, formerly of Portland, 
passed away August 3rd 2006 from burn injuries sustained in an auto accident 
on June 8 in Iowa.  She was born November 26th, 1949 in Ionia, the daughter of 
Allen and Berneda (Roberts) Scheurer.

She grew up in Portland and graduated from Portland High School, 1967. Donna 
received an Associates Degree from Lansing Community College, in the 
Registered Nurse program, a Bachelors Degree in Education from Michigan State 
University, a Bachelors degree in Nursing from Mesa College in Grand Junction, 
Colorado and her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix, 
in Denver Colorado.  She worked her entire career in the nursing field either 
in the hospital setting or as a school nurse. She worked at St. Lawrence 
Hospital, Lansing Michigan, Grand Ledge Schools, Grand Ledge, Michigan, Fort 
Morgan, Gunnison, and Grand Junction, Colorado. Since the mid-eighties she has 
worked at Adam-12 School District in Broomfield, Colorado as a school nurse.

Donna was respected admired, and loved by many people. She enhanced many lives 
of the students and fellow employees, she was a member of numerous nursing 
associations. She looked forward to her summers back in Michigan on the farm 
where she grew up working with and riding her horses, and spending time with 
nieces and nephews.  She enjoyed spending time with her summer friends, local 
4-H fairs and watching horse livestock shows.

She is survived by her parents, Allen and Berneda Scheurer, sisters; Mary 
Scheurer, Sue Scheurer, Deb (Ron) Thelen, brothers; Mike (Cindy) Scheurer, 
Craig (Jil) Scheurer, and nephews; Nick, Shane, Jared, Beau, Codi, Stephen, 
Jake Scheurer, Logan and Luke Thelen, and Nieces Jenny and Tori Scheurer. She 
was preceded in death by her niece, Kianna Scheurer in 2006. Also surviving 
are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many good friends both in Colorado 
and Michigan.

Memorial Services will be conducted by Pastor Mark Johnson, at 11 a.m., 
Friday, August 11, at LeValley United Methodist Church, 4018 Kelsey Hwy., 
Ionia.  The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday 
August 10, 2006 at Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. In lieu 
of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sue and Kianna Scheurer Fund.
