She was born on June 28, 1923 in Harbor Springs, MI the daughter of Mynor and Theresa (Patton) LaCount. Mrs. Schick was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a Senior Citizen Volunteer. Hazel enjoyed many craft activities and was an avid walker. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband William Schick; step daughter, LaVonn Gonzalez; brothers, Vernon and George LaCount; sisters, Marion Morse, Joyce Sevarns and Vera Sevrence. Surviving are her children, Donald (Marie) LaCount and Robert (Dolores) Schick; step children, Carl (Marsha) Schick; 6 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Donna (David) Elliott; step son-in-law Ron Gonzalez. The Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland with the Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson, Pastor of the First Congregational Church, Portland, presiding. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Interment will take place at a later date in Danby Township Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090, in memory of Hazel.
