Raymond was the seventh child of a family of 11 children. He was born in Belding Nov. 3, 1929, and attended the Ellis school until moving to Grattan with his parents in 1940 where he was a pupil in the Grattan school. His happy smile and sunny disposition had won him many friends, especially the older men and women in his neighborhood and no act of kindness was too much for him to do. He was a member of St. Patrick’s church at Parnell. His funeral services were held in St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Belding where he received his first Holy Communion and the Mass was offered by Rev. Fr. Ralph J. Kelly with burial in St. Joseph’s cemetery. He will be sadly missed by his teacher and schoolmates. He leaves to mourn their loss his mother and father, eight sisters, Eloise of Detroit, Eleanor of Belding, Noema of Battle Creek, Helen of Belding, Ellen of Grand Rapids, Patricia, Charlotte and Ethel Mae at home, and two brothers, LaVern and Harold James, also at home. As also an aged grandmother, Mrs. Charlotte Landrie, who makes her home with the Ed. Schindorf family, and a host of friends. At the time of his death he was 13 years, one month and two days old. Pallbearers at the funeral were Phillip Dawson of Grattan, Martin Walsh and Charles Nugent of Parnell, Bob North and John Greenop of Belding and Eugene Diebold of Long Lake.
