Nov. 29, 1916 & Sat. Dec. 2, 1916 A. SCHIPPER DROPS DEAD AT HIS HOME August Schipper dropped dead suddenly at 10:30 this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Steinke, 320 North Dexter street. He had gone down into the cellar for something, and was found there by his daughter some time later. Though slightly troubled by heart trouble for some time past, he had been in his usual health and was around as usual this morning at the time of his death., which came as a distinct shock and without warning. Heart trouble being given as the cause of his death. Funeral announcements will be made later. Deceased was born in Germany where he grew to manhood and was married. He fought in the Franco-Prussian war and afterwards came to this country, having made his home in Ionia for nearly 35 years. For several years he followed the trade of a stone mason and later was employed at the Stafford Mfg. Co. He is survived by three sons, Paul William and Frank, all of this city and five daughters, Mrs. Chas. Heiden, Mrs. Robt. Holtz, Mrs. Wm. Steinke and Mrs. Henry Woodrich of this city, and Mrs. Conley of Chicago. Mrs. Schipper died about four years ago. Dec. 2, 1916 Funeral services for August Schipper were held at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Steinke, Friday afternoon, Rev. H.B. Succop of the German Lutheran church officiating. The bearers were four sons in law, Henry Woodrich, Wm. Steinke, Robt. Holtz and Chas Heiden. Interment was in Highland Park cemetery.
