Sentinel-Standard - Thursday, April 4, 1991

Grayling- Richard Francis Schlernitzauer, 71, of Grayling, formerly of Lowell and 
Ionia, died Saturday at his residence. He had lived in Grayling for the past 15 
years.

He was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio, on Nov. 18, 1919, the son of William and Veronica 
Smith Schlernitzauer. He was graduated from Ionia High School and Michigan State 
University. He was a retailer in Lowell until his retirement.

He was married to the former Gertrude P. Siltala, who survives. 

Also surviving are two daughters JoAnn Small of Sacramento, Calif., and Veronica L.

Odell of Lowell; one son, Dan William Schlernitzauer of Lexington, Ky., five 
grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Mae Catt of Madison Wisconsin.

He was a member of the U. S. Coast Guard LST-791 Association, Michigan United 
Conservation Clubs; Loyal Order of the Moose of Lowell; and the National Rifle 
Association.

Memorial services will be announced. Arrangements have been made by Sorenson Funeral

Home of Grayling.
