The Ionia County News, Thursday, May 4, 1939

Funeral service for Matt C. Schmidt, 62, was held from SS. Peter and Paul 
church, Ionia, at nine o’clock Wednesday morning, May 3, with burial in Mt. 
Olivet cemetery.  

Mr. Schmidt died at his farm home near Dildine early Sunday morning, April 
30.  he had been ill about a year.

Surviving are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Vern Brockman, Ionia, a son 
Clarence, Fort Wayne, Ind., two sisters, Mrs. Myers and Miss Mary Schmidt and 
a brother John Schmidt, all residing in Evanston, Ill.
