Schmidt, 65, passed away at his home at 417 River street early Sunday morning, his death being caused by a stroke after a week’s illness. He was born at Lakeview October 13, 1886, the son of William and Cora Randall Schmidt. He was married to Mrs. Clara Bull in 1929. Mr. Schmidt was a member of the Maccabees at Smyrna; Cleveland Wolverton Post 3794 VFW at Greenville; Hugo Fales Post 203, American Legion and Belding Church of Christ. He served in the First World War, 13 months. He was employed as a truck driver for Johnson Bros. for 14 years. Surviving besides his wife is one son Jack at home, two brothers, Ray of Coral and Perry of Lake Orion; two sisters, Mrs. Lois Wheeler of Coral, and Mrs. Vera Beardslee? of Lakeview; two step daughters, Mrs. Russel Sage of the city and Mrs. Carl Upland of Pontiac. Funeral services were held at Fales-Huffman Chapel Wednesday at 2 o’clock with Rev. H.E. Curch officiating, assisted by Greenville VFW Post. Burial was in West Pine cemetery north of Langston. Acting as pall bearers were Clayton Campbell, Frank Hubbard, Walter Roth, Burr Smith, Leo Case and Charles Loper.
