Ionia Sentinel Standard
Mrs. Bessie C. Schmidt, 81, of 211 Adams, died early Tuesday morning at Ionia 
Memorial hospital where she had been a patient the past week.  Born in Ionia 
April 23, 1893, she was the daughter of Charles and Monica Perry Randall and 
lived her entire life in the Ionia area.  After graduation from Ionia high 
school she attended the North Central college at Naperville, Ill., and after 
graduation returned to Ionia to teach private music lessons until her retirement 
in 1970.  August  8, 1916, she was married to Orin F. Schmidt at the United 
Methodist church, the and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 
1966.  He died March 12, 1971.

She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, the Bethany Sunday school 
class and Suzanna circle of the church and Blue Star Mothers club.  Surviving 
are three sons, Leland of Los Angeles, Calif., Gordon of Milford and Earl of 
Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Madaline Cook of Ionia and Mrs. Carol Frisbey of 
Harbor Springs; 17 grandchildren and 14 great -grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 pm at the Zion United Methodist church.  
Rev Nolan Williams will officiate assisted by a grandson, Rev. Derryl Cook of 
the United Methodist church of Evart.  Interment will be at the Tuttle cemetery.  
The family will be at the Leddick funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and 
Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
