May 4, 1922 Funeral Services Held Monday Morning For Mrs. L.P. Schmolz Funeral services for the late Mrs. L.P. Schmolz were held Monday morning, May 1, from the church of SS. Peter and Paul, the requiem High Mass being sung by Rev. Fr. Gabriel, with a funeral sermon by the pastor, Rev. Fr. Hugh D. McCarthy. Interment was made in the family lot in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Mrs. L. P. Schmolz, nee Annie Marie Schmucker, daughter of Frank and Katherine schmucker, pioneer family of Ionia, was born December 2, 1864, at the old Schmucker homestead located at the corner of Main and Dexter streets. She was married to L. P. Schmolz on February 2, 1885, and was a resident of this city her entire life. To their union four children were given, one dying in infancy, the surviving members being Mrs. Bruce O'Connell, of Memphis, Tenn., Russel Schmolz, of Lansing, and Helen, who lives at home, who together with the husband an a sister, Mrs. Mollie Blackwell, of Madison, Ohio, and a brother, Frank Schmucker, of Ionia, are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife, mother and sister. Besides the relatives those who attended the funeral obsequies from out of the city were Miss Ruth Wilson, Grand Rapids, Howard Bunnell, of Lansing, and several employees of the Internal Revenue department of Western Michigan, who are associated with Mr. Schmolz in his work for the Federal government. In her girlhood days Mrs. Schomlz was a musician of much local ability and delighted many an entertainment with her talents. She was of a lovable nature and her sudden leave taking was a distinct shock as well as a great loss to the home city she had so long grace with her charms. Additional Comments: Mt.
