Martin Schnabel, one of the oldest residents of Berlin township, died quite unexpectedly Sunday morning at 4:00 o'clock, at the farm home where he had lived for almost sixty years. He was 90 years old last August. Death is attributed to senile debility, but was totally unexpected. He had been outdoors helping with some of the lighter work the day before. Mrs. Schnabel died in April, 1915, and it was in 1911 that they celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary. They were married in Germany and came to this country in July, 1857. Six children are left: Mrs. John McKernan of Postville, Iowa; Mrs. Jos. Sarlouis of Berlin township; Peter Schnabel of Odessa, who is now visiting in Los Angeles, Cal.; Levi Schnabel of Millbank, S. Dak.;Thomas Schnabel, who was making his home with his father; and Robert Schnabel, also of Berlin township. There are eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, left to mourn the passing of the faithful and loveable grandfather. Additional Comments: Mt. Olivet cemetery - # A-50 Ctf: b.
