The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, July 19, 1961
Mrs. Elizabeth Schnabel, 84, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday at her home at 1217 
Bridge street, South Ionia. 

She was born December 19, 1876 in Westphalia, the daughter of Henry and 
Elizabeth Laymann Roll, and was married May 10, 1900 to Robert Schnabel at 
Ionia SS Peter and Paul church.  They resided on a farm in Berlin township 
prior to moving to the South Ionia residence 12 years ago.  Mr. Schnabel 
preceded her in death in 1954, also a daughter, Rita in 1934.

Mrs. Schnabel was a member of SS Peter and Paul church and Rosary Society.

Surviving are a daughter, Eleanor at home; a son, James Schnabel of rural 
Ionia; one granddaughter, and a niece, Molly Bozung, who made her home with 
Mrs. Schnabel.

Rosary will be recited at Myers funeral home Friday at 7:30 p.m.  Service will 
be held at 9 o’clock Saturday morning at SS Peter and Paul church with 
interment in the family lot at Mt. Olivet.
