The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, December 10, 1971

William Scholtens, 84, died Wednesday at a hospital in Fremont.  He was born 
June 6, 1887, at Stanton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Scholtens.  In 1909 he 
was married to Ethel Geeting and she died in 1964.  He had lived most of his 
life in Ionia, retiring from Consumers Power in 1952 after which he moved to 
Newaygo.

Surviving are four sons, John of Bradenton, Fla., Ross of Chelsea, George of 
Detroit and Robert of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Kienitz of Grand Rapids 
and Mrs. Evelyn Dion of Kalamazoo; 11 grandchildren and three great 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Pieschel funeral home in 
Newaygo.  Interment will be at Oak Grove cemetery near Croton.
