He was born December 16, 1868 in Neustadt, Germany, and came to American at the age of 19 years. He lived in Indiana, then moved to Illinois, and there he was married to Anna Katherine Belierbeck in 1899. She died in 1938. The couple moved to Ionia from Illinois, and he was a cabinet maker by trade, employed for many years by Stafford and Pere Marquette shops. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Henry Heppe of Orleans and Mrs. Peter Fagerhaugh of Vallejo, Calif.; four sons, Victor of Pontiac, Albert of Petaluma, Calif.; Martin of Hastings and Otto of Portland, also eight grandchildren. The body will be taken to the Henry Heppe residence in Orleans Saturday morning. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Myers funeral home. Rev. A. R Kuehn, pastor of the Zion Evangelical church, will officiate, and burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.
