She was born in Portland, MI on July 25, 1927 and was the daughter of Fred J. and Katherine (Keusch) Mauren, Jr. Margaret attended St. Patrick's Elementary School and graduated from Portland High School in 1945. She went on to attend Nazareth College and worked at the family-owned Portland Review and Observer. On May 26, 1951 Margaret married Richard Schrauben. She served on various school committees and as Recording Secretary of St. Patrick's Board of Education. Margaret enjoyed being a homemaker and being home with her children. She dearly loved her family and especially her grandchildren and all the special memories that were made at their cottage on Clifford Lake. Her interests were sports, traveling, and painting. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Mauren. Margaret is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard "Dick" Schrauben; her Children: Keith (Carol) Schrauben of Portland, Ann (Greg) Lantzy of Lansing, Kathy (Edmund) Hermelyn of Portland, Amy (Bob) Hitchcock of Portland, and Kevin (Kris) Schrauben of Portland; 13 Grandchildren: Mallory, Brett, Michael, David, Thomas, Mark, Ryan, Michelle, Caitlin, Lindsey, Kendall, Brendan & Mara; Brother, Richard (Fran) Mauren; Sister-in-laws: Clara Mauren, Agnes Stump, Alice (Harry) Veltman, Helen Kavanagh, Mildred Wight, Esther Schrauben & Mae Lehman and numerous nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 31 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Larry King, Pastor presiding. Arrangements were entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Father Flohe Foundation.
