He was pronounced dead on arrival at Ingham Medical Center. He was parts man for Plowman Ford Sales in Portland and an employee of its predecessors many years. He was born August 4, 1918, in Westphalia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schrauben and was a veteran of World War II. Surviving besides his wife, the former Mae Fandel, are three sons, Lawrence and Frederick of Lansing and Hubert of Portland; three daughters, Ms. Bonnie McClure of Lansing, and twins, Jean and Jane at home; five grandchildren. He also leaves six brothers, Herman Schrauben, Sr., Isadore, Clarence, John and Richard, all of Portland and Raymond of Hubbardston; five sisters, Mrs. Martha Doll of Lansing, Ms. Mildred Wight of Portland, Mrs. Agnes Stump and Mrs. Alice Veltman of Grand Ledge and Mrs. Helen Kavanaugh of Williamston. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 am at St. Patrick Catholic church in Portland, Fr. Joseph Malewitz will officiate and interment will be at Portland cemetery. Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8 pm at Neller funeral home in Portland. Church rosary will be Thursday at 8 pm at the funeral home.
