Ionia Sentinel-Standard
Isadore C. Schrauben, 76, of 10303 East Grand River, Portland, died Wednesday at 
a Lansing hospital.  He was born Oct. 28, 1912 in Westphalia, a son of John and 
Amelia Fineis Schrauben.  Mr. Schrauben was a retired farmer and retired from 
Portland Products where he worked as a welder.  He was a member of the Knights 
of Columbus, St. Patrick’s Church, St. Joseph Society and the Portland 
Conservation Club. 

He is survived by his wife Esther; five sons, Gene, Harry, Marvin, Charles and 
Alan, all of Portland; two daughters, Joyce LaFleur of East Lansing and Karen 
Wirth of Portland; 18 grandchildren; five brothers, Herman, John and Richard all 
of Portland, Raymond of Carson City and Clarence of St. Johns; five sisters, 
Martha Doll of Lansing, Agnes Stump of Grand Ledge, Helen Kavanaugh of 
Williamston, Mildred Whight of Portland, and Alice Veltman of Grand Ledge.

The rosary service will be at 8 pm Thursday at the Neller Funeral Home in 
Portland.  A Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10 am Friday at St. 
Patrick’s Church with the Rev. Fr Richard VanLente to officiate.  Burial will be 
in the Portland Cemetery.  Pall bearers are Patrick Trierweiler, Martin Pline, 
Edward Schmitz and Herman Jr., Keith and Hubert Schrauben.  Memorials may be 
left at the funeral home for the Father Flohe Foundation.
