He was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran church in his youth.He was united in marriage to Myra Peters of Carlton, Mich. Oct. 13, 1874, and to this union were born a son and a daughter. He was a devoted husband, a kind loving father, a good citizen respected by all who knew him. For the past 14 years he has resided on his farm north of lake Odessa.He has been in failing health since last August, finally the summons came and bore his spirit to the great beyond on Dec. 12. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Greely Fox of Hastings, a son Elmer Schray of Sunfield, a brother , Philip Schray of Woodland, two sisters, Mrs. Louise Palmerton, Woodland, and Mrs. Christian Frederick of Niles and six grand children. Funeral services held Wednesday morning at the Congregational church Lake Odessa, Rev. Abram H. Lash officiating. Mrs. Harley Owen and Wm. Gilson sang with Miss Gwendolyn Tasker, pianist.
