Mrs. Esther G. Schroeder, 94, of Grayling and longtime resident of Ionia, 
passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at the Mercy Manor in Grayling.  

Esther Goldie Jepsen was born July 27, 1905 in Dwight, Ill., the daughter of 
Anton Peter and May Louise (Griffin) Jepsen.  She was the youngest of nine 
children.  She married William C. Schroeder in Wood County, Ohio, on July 12, 
1929.  She worked for Mitchell-Bentley, Farm Bureau and Peske Packing.

Esther liked to oil paint in her earlier years and many of her paintings hang 
in her family’s homes.  She and her husband, Bill, were lifelong residents of 
the Ionia area.  She greatly loved her children and grandchildren and will be 
dearly missed by her family.

She is survived by one son, Bruce (Gerry) Schroeder of Grayling; one son-in-
law, Robert North; four grandchildren, Tim North, Craig Schroeder, Paul 
Schroeder and Kris Linebaugh; 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in 
death by her husband Bill in 1984; one daughter, Belvey Jean North, in 1976; 
and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Rich 
Street Chapel, Ionia, with Pastor Jeffrey Jaggers of the Michelson Methodist 
Church, Grayling, officiating.  Interment will be in Easton Cemetery.  
Visitation is Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Cook 
Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Michelson Methodist 
Church Mortgage Fund.  Envelopes are available at Cook Funeral Home, Ionia.
