                                OBITUARY
                         Christina Caroline Schuler
Christina Carolina Voelker was born Jan.29, 1839 in Laenberg, Germany, and died 
May 12, 1913 at her home in Woodland, Barry Co., Mich., aged seventy-four years, 
three months and fourteen days.

Coming to America in the year 1856, she made her home for a short time in 
Marshall and Battle Creek. In 1856 she united in marriage to John Conrad Schuler 
and they at once moved into their new home, where they lived happily for fifty 
three years. Mr. Schuler having died a little over a year ago.

To this union were born five children, four of whom survive her, one son dying 
in infancy. She leaves three daughters and one son and with these Roy Rowlader 
who was taken into the home in early childhood and to whom she proved a kind and 
loving mother, and one brother and many other relatives and friends to mourn 
their loss.She was a devoted mother, a good neighbor and a true friend. Not only 
the community but all who were so fortunate as to know her held her in high 
esteem.

Mrs. Schuler was converted in the year 1860 under the labor of Rev. M.Krenger 
and was among the first members of Woodland Evangelical Church.Throughout these 
years she was an earnest Christian, true to her church and a loyal supporter of 
all its enterprises. Her life is "as a tale that is told" but the memory of her 
well spent years will be a lasting benediction to all who knew her.

The funeral services were held May 15, at the evangelical Church where a large 
congregation gathered to pay their last tribute of love and respect. The remains 
were laid in the Lakeside cemetery.
