John Schwab died Tuesday afternoon at the home of Hubbard Esch, in the western 
part of the village, after a long illness from Bright’s disease.  He suffered a 
stroke of paralysis several months ago and his health had failed rapidly 
since.  Mr. Schwab was born in Westphalia township 59 years ago and was the 
father of three children, all of whom died in infancy.  His wife passed before 
him many years ago.  Deceased was a brother of the late Mrs. Christopher 
Nahrgang, of Danby.  Funeral services were held at St. Patrick’s church this 
(Thursday) morning at 8:30, conducted by Rev. Fr. ?oelzer, and the remains were 
interred in Portland cemetery.
