Thelma K. “Aunt Suzie” Schwartzman, aged 96, of Clarksville, was called to be 
with her Lord early Tuesday morning, Nov. 11, 2008.

Susie was born on May 5, 1912 to William and Rose Banning. She was blessed with 
the gift of hospitality, and opened her home to missionaries from around the 
world. She had provided floral arrangements for the Clarksville Bible Church 
for many years and had taught Young Adult Sunday School classes. In her younger 
years, Susie had been a member of the Lansing Camera Club. Susie had also been 
a volunteer with the Red Cross for over 70 years; most likely the longest 
serving volunteer in Michigan Red Cross history.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Mickey) Schwartzman of Rodney, Mich.; 
daughter, Shirley Miller of Ft. Collins, Colo.; five grandchildren; sister, 
Wanita Gaffner of Williamston, Mich.; several nieces and nephews and her 
special friends, the Cronk family.

Suzie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Schwartzman; grandson, 
Bradley Allan Schwartzman; son-in-law, Charles Wesley Miller and siblings, 
Virginia, William and Ernest. 

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at the 
Clarksville Bible Church. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on 
Friday, Nov. 14 at the Clarksville Bible Church. Burial will be in the 
Clarksville Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be 
made to the American Red Cross, the Ionia County Commission on Aging, or the 
Gideons. Arrangements are being made by the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake 
Odessa.
