Virginia B. Schweitzer, 79, of 6377 Bluewater Highway, Saranac, died Monday at 
the Lowell Medical Care Facility.  She was born on December 16, 1907 in 
Virginia, the daughter of Charles and Georgia Bussell Switzer.  She lived in 
Ionia County since 1946.  She married Walt Schweitzer April 1, 1933 in Bay 
City.

Surviving are her husband, Walt; two foster children, Darlene Jones of Gaylord 
and Charles Piehl of Lowell; two brothers, Robert of Detroit and Charles Jr. 
of Florida; two sisters, Verna Meier of Bay City and Dorothy Brown of 
Muskegon; and eight foster grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac, with the Rev. Phillip Whipple officiating.  Burial will be in Saranac 
Cemetery.  Friends and relatives can visit the family on Tuesday and Wednesday 
from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be 
made to the American Cancer Fund.
