The Ionia Daily Standard, Monday, February 6, 1905

The funeral service for the late Mathias F. Scott, at Church of Christ, 
Saranac, Sunday afternoon, was largely attended, 25 Elks and a few Masons 
going from this city.  Three County School commissioners were present: Wagner 
of Eaton, Pike of Gratiot and Townsend of Clinton.  Supt. C. L. Bemis also 
attended.  Associate county officers were represented by County Clerk 
Holbrook.  The services were by Rev. Mr. Stafford, pastor of the church, and 
interment was in Saranac cemetery.
