Carr Officiates at Service John Phillip Scott, 83, of Saranac died Tuesday evening as the result of lingering ill health induced by a stroke of paralysis suffered over a year ago. Mr. Scott was born in Ontario, Can., July 30, 1845 and came to Michigan when 27 years of age. Some time after his arrival here he was married and returned to Canada where he continued to live until 1912 when he returned to make his home permanently at Saranac. He is survived by two sons, Jay and Lawrence, both living in Canada; three brothers, Wellington Scott, Easton township, W.R. Scott, Canada and Walter Scott; two half-brothers, James and Albert of Saranac and his step-mother, Mrs. Lydia Scott. Funeral services were to be held this afternoon from the home with Rev. O.E. Carr, of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial was to be in Saranac cemetery.
