Ionia Daily Sentinel – Wednesday, 24 January 1945
Final rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Stebbins funeral 
home, Sheridan, for Wellington Scott, 86, former Ionia resident who had spent 
most of his life near Sheridan.  The Rev. Thomas Rice of Belding will 
officiate and burial will be in Sheridan cemetery.  Wellington Scott died 
Tuesday afternoon in the Muston convalescent home in Belding.  He was born on 
May 20, 1858 in Ontario, Canada and moved to Sheridan when a young man.

He was married to Rosa Griggs in 1882 and she died in 1909.  In 1917 he was 
married to Laura Clark of near Shepherd and she preceded him in death in 
March, 1944.  For the past 15 years they had made their home on a farm in 
Orleans Township.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Alma Beach, of Ionia, and a brother Albert 
Scott of Grand Rapids.  Also surviving is a step-brother, James A. Scott of 
Saranac.
