The Ionia Sentinel, Thursday, November 2, 1881

Cornelius Scott, a pioneer of this county, died in this city last Wednesday, 
at the age of 80 years.  He was born in Red Rock, N.Y., in April, 1802, and 
removed to Michigan in 1837, at the age of 15, and located in this county.  He 
was married to Almira M. Castle, who died in 1870.  They had seven children, 
all of whom except one survive their parents.  The funeral will take place 
tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Baptist church.
