Ionia Sentinel Standard, 30 Sep 1971

James Scott, 92, of 136 Summit, Saranac, died early Thursday morning at Ionia
Manor.  Born in Berlin Center, January 5, 1879, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs.
James R. Scott.  He was a farmer many years and also mail hauler for the United
States post office and post office employee 42 years.  He was Saranac village
clerk 36 years and life member of Odd Fellows lodge.

Surviving are a son, Clifford Scott of Saranac; two daughters, Mrs. Bessie
Taylor of Saranac and Mrs. Matie White of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren and
six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Morris-Roetman funeral home in
Saranac.  Interment will be at Saranac cemetery.
