Bennett lib@dogsbark.com May 11, 2010, 7:57 pm Ionia Sentinel Standard SCOTT, VERN “DELL”: IONIA SENTINEL-STANDARD, Tuesday, June 6, 2000: "Obituaries - Vern "Dell" Scott, 94, of Keene Twp. passed away June 3, 2000 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1905, in Keene Twp. the son of Vern E. and Marcia (Blough) Scott. He grew up and lived in Keene Twp. Potters Corner Area all his life. He married Ola Taylor June 5, 1928. She survives him. Mr. Scott farmed and worked in a factory. He was a member of Farm Bureau, Keene Twp Treasurer for many years. He was a member of Marble Church until it burned, then a member of Easton United Methodist Church, and was always very sharp when it came to remembering time and dates. He and Ola enjoyed many winters together in Florida, Texas and Arizona. He was adored by his grandchildren and will be missed by his family, neighbors and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ola, of 72 years; children, Earl and Carol Scott of Saranac, Doris and Art Hessler of Belding; grandchildren, Brice and Debbie Hesche of Texas, Keith and Linda Hesche of Texas, Robin and Sam Harder of Ionia, Julie Bennett of Texas, Marsha Scott Remynse of Kalamazoo, Allan and Ellen Scott of Cheboygan, Dawn and Kim Hessler of Belding, Debbie Hesler of Belding, Scott Hessler of Belding, Craig and Lisa Hessler of Clarksville; 19 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one niece Donna and Jerry Foy of Grand Rapids. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Iris Jean Hesche; sister, May Clemenz; grandson, Kevin Earl Scott. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac with Rev. Scott Otis and Rev. Judy Downing officiating. Interment Easton Cemetery. Visitation was at the funeral home on Monday from 2 until 4 and 7 until 8:30 p.m. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to the families’ choice of charities."
