Nov. 21, 2017 CLEO V. SCUTT, 90 Cleo Vernol Scutt Jr., passed away, Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017. He was born on Aug. 10, 1927, in Carson City, the son of Cleo and Anita (Frisbee) Scutt Sr. Cleo retired from General Motors in 1985 after 37 and a half years of service. He was a snowmobile enthusiast, even becoming a dealer of Viking snowmobiles. He enjoyed hunting deer and pheasant, fishing, and dancing to bluegrass music with his beloved wife, Louise. In fact, dancing is how the two met; Cleo spotted Louise from across the Muir Dance Hall and knew it was love at first sight. They married on Aug. 21, 1949. Cleo treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and always made sure to put their needs before his own. Surviving Cleo are his wife of 68 years, Louise (Johnston) Scutt; two daughters, Sally Dianne Scutt and Shirley Darlene Shattuck; four grandchildren, Elisheba (James) Petersen, Eldad Koutz, Shawn (Ashley A.) Shattuck, and Justin (Ashley S.) Shattuck; five great-grandchildren with one on the way, Zachary, Nathan, Ethan, Titus, and Mason; sister-in-law, Lois (George) Miller; and special neighbors, George and Molly Cassel. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Yvonne Clements and Kenneth Scutt; son-in-law, Forrest Shattuck; and in-laws, George and Pearl Johnston. The Funeral service will be officiated by Pastor James Petersen;at 11 a.m Wednesday, Nov. 22, at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge, St., Portland. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at East Sebewa Cemetery. A luncheon at the Grand River Conservation Club will immediately follow the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
