She was the daughter of Rev. G. Madison, and was born in Easton, Ionia county, November 4, 1848, where she lived several years. On November 4, 1868, she was united in marriage to Chester A. Searing, the ceremony being performed at Bostwick Lake, Kent Co. They took up their home on the husband’s farm east of Lyons, where they lived until 1897, when they moved to the village of Lyons, since which time this has been her home. Deceased was a member of the Lyons M.E. Church, having been converted in her early youth, and was ever faithful in the service of her Master. She was also a member of the Lyons W.C.T.U. and took an active part in its work. She is survived by her husband, three children, Emmett Searing, of Butte, Montana, Guy Searing, of Jackson, Mich., and Ruby Searing, of Lyons, and two sisters Mrs. Sarah E. Fraser of Petoskey and Mrs. John D. Kitson of Easton. Mrs. Searing was born in a log house and the first years of her married life were passed in a similar dwelling. She died in her beautiful home, surrounded by every comfort, ministered unto by loving relatives and friends, and passed over the river in the firm belief that her loving Savior would be the first to greet her on the other shore. The funeral was held Wednesday at the M.E. Church, the attendance being large. Rev. H.E. Wylie conducted the service, assisted by Rev. V.K. Beshgetoor. The music was furnished by Messrs. Herrick and Henderson and Mesdames Wolford and Upton. The pall-bearers were Robert Hopkins, A. Buchanan, C.R. Herrick, H.J. Ashley, Wm. Knudson and Geo. Vance. Interment in Lyons cemetery.
