Searing, well known to many Observer readers, died at his home in Lyons township Friday morning last aged 56 years. Mr. Searing was a native of the township where he died and there are but few natives of Ionia county older than he now living, his father who is now approaching 90 years of age having one of the county’s earliest pioneers. Deceased was an honorable, upright man and a good farmer. The cause of his death was a complication of diseases dropsy and stomach trouble being the leading factors of death. Funeral services were held from the house Sunday afternoon, Rev. Ogden preaching funeral discourse. There was a very large attendance of relatives, friends and acquaintances and upward of 100 carriages followed the remains to the cemetery.
