Ionia County News, 23 Apr 1942

Mrs. Clara Searing, 86, died in Lansing Saturday, April 18, after a three weeks 
illness.  Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 21, from a Lansing Funeral home 
with burial at Lyons.  She was born in Grand Rapids October 4, 1856, the daughter 
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Hecht.  She was married to Melvin N. Searing, March 
27, 1878, at the home of her parents by Rev. George Hollister of Lyons.  They 
moved to a farm east of Lyons where Mr. Searing died May 9, 1902.  Mrs. Searing 
continued to live on the farm until 1920 when she moved to Lyons and later to 
Lansing where she was a matron of a woman’s home.
