Her entire life was spent in Lyons township. She was married in 1877 to Ezra Hammond and to this union four children were born, three of whom survive: Mrs. Marguerite Burton of Grand Rapids, Oliver Hammond of Gregory and Mrs. Laura Vance of Port Townsend, Washington. After the death of her husband, Ezra Hammond, in 1897 she continued to reside in Pewamo until her marriage with Chester Searing in 1910, when she moved to Lyons. Mr. Searing died in 1918, after which she continued to reside in Lyons. For several years she had been in ill-health and was recently taken to the University hospital in Ann Arbor and from there to the home of her son, Oliver, in Gregory where death came to relieve her sufferings Monday, January 16th. Funeral services were held at the home in Lyons Thursday, Jan. 19, conducted by Rev. Vincent C. Webb of the Baptist church, and interment made in the Pewamo cemetery.
