Seaver, former resident of this township, died suddenly at the home of his only son, Ollie Seaver, in Detroit Thursday, April 6th, aged 78 years, 11 months and 15 days. Deceased was born April 21, 1843, in Madison county, N.Y., and came to Michigan with his parents in 1851, coming by way of the Erie canal to Buffalo and on to Detroit by sailing schooner, then overland to Dallas township, Clinton county, by team. They later moved to a farm one mile west of Pewamo where he continued to live until 1908. The past few years he has made his home with his son in Detroit and at the Soldiers home in Grand Rapids. He was a veteran of the Civil war, being a member of the 8th Michigan Infantry for two years, 18 months of the time being spent in the hospital. He was united in marriage to Miss Frances A. Wright in 1876, who died in 1892. He is survived by the one son and by four brothers, Isaac, John and Oscar of Pompeii; and Milo, of Portland; Oregon; also a sister, Mrs. Laura Hill of Petoskey. The body was brought to Pewamo Saturday noon, and funeral service held in the M.E. church there at one o’clock, conducted by Rev. Chas. Nease. Vocal duets were rendered by Mesdames Geo. W. Amsden and Geo. H. Steadman. Interment was made in the Lyons cemetery, where the service was in charge of the F.& A.M., of which deceased was a member.
