Seidelman, 85, of Ionia, passed away Feb. 20, 2001, at the Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids. She was born the daughter of Burton L. and Ethel (Bender) Mitchell on Sept. 25, 1915, in Ionia. She was the Lay Pastor at Orleans United Methodist Church beginning in 1978. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Ionia for 50 years. Margaret was a charter member of the Church Women United which was founded in 1957. She was district president of the United Methodist Women, the first woman president of the Greater Ionia Community Chest (now the United Way). She was very active in the Ionia Free Fair for over 50 years, superintendent of Apiary Departments, Queen Coordinator of the Ionia Free Fair for over 30 years, secretary of the Michigan Bee Keepers for over 25 years and a member of the Ionia County Bee Keepers. Margaret became very active in the Clark Retirement Community, where she enjoyed the “Mouse Pad” computer lab and worked for Channel 15 in house TV station where she volunteered over 2,000 hours of her time. Surviving are three sons, David (Janet) Seidelman, of Ionia, Herbert (Millie) Seidelman, of Orleans and James Seidelman, of Charlotte; four daughters, Phyllis (Keith) Sypher of Lowell, Barbara (Lowell) Lytle, of Pinellas Park. Fla., Julia (Geryl) Thayer, of Bradenton, Fla. And Kay (Jon) Whan, of Augusta; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1993; three grandsons; five sisters and one brother. Funeral and committal services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church in Ionia, with Rev. Arlo Vandlen officiating. The organist will be Sally Flanders. Interment will be in the spring at Easton cemetery. Visiting hours are 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Rich Street Chapel of Cook Funeral Home, in Ionia.
