Seidelman, well known farmer and been keeper of Ionia county, died Tuesday morning at 7 o'clock in Ionia County Memorial hospital where he was admitted 6:30 p.m. Monday. A resident of route 3, Easton township and 82 years of age, he was born in Bavaria, Germany, January 21, 1874, the son of John and Maria Seidelman. Orphaned while a young boy, he left his foster parents home and came to the united States at the age of 17 at which time he settled with relatives in Illinois. At the age of 18, he began working and helping with bees on Zelea Jessop farm ad at that time, became interested in the culture of bees which he made his life long vocation. He was married to the former Barbara Kroft in Clintonville, Wisconsin, October 4, 1898, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1948 at their present home. In 1915 he came to Michigan and settled in Ionia county, he made his home in Orleans township for four years and moved to the present farm home in 1919 in Easton township where he has resided since. In 1955 he sold his bee business to his son George Seidelman who had been his partner. Mr. Seidelman was an Ionia-Montcalm county bee inspector for ten years; joined the state association in 1920; was a member of the Ionia-Montcalm Bee Keepers Association for many years; was past president of the group; exhibited at the Ionia Free Fair form any years; and was also a member of the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church; A member of the Friendship class; former superintendent of Sunday school and served on the church board for several years. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and a former member of the farm bureau. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; two sons George Seidelman, of route 3, Ionia; John Seidelman of Detroit; four daughters, Mrs. Levaldin Hull of route 3, Ionia; Mrs. Dewey Beach of North Jackson street, Ionia; Mrs. Freda Slocum of North Jefferson street, Ionia; Mrs. Elmer Coon of Detroit; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leonard Seidelman of Oswego, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Fred Zick of San Mateo, Calif.; and one great-grandson preceded him in death in 1953 during the Korean conflict. Contributions toward a memorial fun, rather than flowers, would be appreciated by the family. The body will be at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home until 10 o'clock Thursday morning and funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church. Interment will be at Easton cemetery.
