He was getting along nicely with his work until about the holidays when he was taken to his bed, and 12 days ago was removed to the Hammond City hospital. He died there Sunday afternoon last at 4 o’clock of typhoid pneumonia. The remains arrived here at noon, Wednesday, accompanied by his father, Christopher Selbach, and brother, Joe. John was a quiet but worthy and energetic young man, and his early demise is to be regretted. He learned the printer’s trade in the Sentinel office, where he worked for three or four years, proving himself to be industrious, painstaking, honest and competent. He was 21 years of age. The remains were removed to the family residence by Mr. Allured that afternoon, they having first been taken to his undertaking establishment. The funeral announcements have not yet been made, but the service will probably be held Friday morning from the Catholic church.
