Joseph Selbach, 71 , of 516 Rich street died at the Ionia County Memorial 
hospital Sunday, November 4, at 12:30 p.m. after being a patient there since 
Friday. He suffered a heart attack, Wednesday.

He was born in Penatkan, Ont., December 1, 1879, the son of Christian and 
Catherine Selbach. He moved to Ionia with his parents when he was six months 
old and had lived here continuously since that time. On July 12, 1902 he 
married Rose Kosmaiskey, Selbach was a rural mail carrier on route 1 for 27 
years until his retirement in 1940. For the last 10 years, he had been traffic 
officer for the high school and the Lincoln and Union intersection.

He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul church, the holy Name Society and the 
Modern Woodmen at America. A charter member of the Ionia K. of Cl lodge and a 
former member of Elks. 

Surviving are the wife; two daughters, Mrs. Francis Lawless of Portland and 
Mrs. Ferd Rochon, of Ludington; a son, Bernard of Grand Rapids; 14 
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A son, Earl preceded his father in 
death 19 years ago.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 9 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul 
church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Services for Joseph Selbach will be conducted at SS. Peter and Paul church at 9 
a.m. Wednesday, November 7. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Rosary will be said at the Boynton funeral home Tuesday at 8 p.m.
