Murvin Selleck, employed as truck driver at the Valley City Milling company’s plant, was killed early this morning while alone in the company’s garage on US-16 near the mill, where he had gone to get a loaded flour truck and start on a delivery trip to Detroit. The large truck was loaded with flour Wednesday afternoon and parked in the garage ready for the trip this morning. The rear end of the truck was jacked up to take the weight off the springs and this morning when Mr. Selleck was removing the jack, the heavily loaded truck moved backward crushing this head between the rear end of the machine and the wall, causing instant death. The accident occurred at about 5:30 o’clock and was discovered a short time later when Ray Knox, another employee, went into the garage. A brother of Mr. Selleck, Charles Selleck, was killed in an auto accident in 1917. Mr. Selleck was born in Portland 59 years ago and for the past 28 years had been employed by the old Portland Milling company and the Valley City Milling company. Besides the widow he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Percy Earl, of Portland, and Miss Velma, at home. Funeral services will be held form the home Saturday afternoon a 2 o’clock, in charge of Rev. John H. Stewart. Burial will be made in Portland cemetery.
