Selleck, wife of Augustus Selleck, died at her home in this village, Friday morning, May 3, aged 76 years. Her health began gradually failing several months ago, and so stealtbily did disease creep on that it was not until a few weeks ago that anything serious was apprehended. The deceased was born in Chenango County, N. Y., March 6th, 1813. In 1833 she removed with her father, Elisha Freeman, to Paris, Oneida county, in the same state, where she was married to Augustus Selleck June 7th 1837. Eleven years later Mr. Selleck moved to Norwalk, Ohio, and thence to Hillsdale county, Mich., in 1864. In 1878 Mrs. Selleck, together with her husband, became a resident of Portland, where she remained up to the time of her death. She united with the Universalist society here during Mr. Gregory’s pastorate. Funeral services which were held Monday afternoon at the church, Rev. McAlpine officiating, were attended by a large concourse of neighbors and friends. Her husband and two children, Wm. Selleck and Mrs. A. P. Derby survived her.
